Maleficient

When your director is a production designer, you can expect one stunning composition after another. Being my first Disney film, I hoped to give the love and attention to building this fantasy world, which I had enjoyed in the studio’s work as a child. This project also marked a transition from a painted and projected approach to digital sets, to one made from fully 3D-created objects and layouts. With many locations to extend and create fully, we invented visual rules for each, based on concepts from director Rob Stromberg and production designer Dylan Cole. Working on a big canvass of dark fantasy was very enjoyable.
